From Cincinnati.com on September 20:

For Miami Valley Christian Academy, a smaller roster size isn’t indicative of the team’s big plans.

With only 19 players, the Lions are 4-0 to start the season and have outscored opponents 212-20. For the most part, the players scoring the offensive points are the same ones making defensive stops, said Joe Lusby, a senior left guard and outside linebacker.

“It’s really just iron-man football,” he said Wednesday before practice. “Since I was a kid, that’s all I wanted to do. It’s just great. I think it actually helps us because we get to stay in the game the whole time. I would hate to have to stand on the side and watch an offense (as a defender). The boys love it.”

A smaller team also means a shorter memory, head coach Robert Vilardo said. For example, last Friday against Cleveland Lutheran East, quarterback Caleb Lusby, Joe’s brother, fumbled the ball on offense.
